CARSON (Sporting Alert) — Gareth Bale shockingly played for 74-minutes during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy in a preseason outing here at The Home Depot Center tonight in Carson.
The speedy winger, who pulled out of Team Great Britain because of an injury, looked like his old self early in the game and even got himself on the scoresheet tonight.
Bales gave Tottenham the lead in the 17th minute when he cleverly headed past the Galaxy goalkeeper from a nice cross by Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Welshman had also setup the leading up play after he knocked down a head into Sigurdsson’s path before racing into the box.
However, Tottenham defended miserably and paid the price when Brazilian defender David Lopes finished superbly in the 29th minute to even the scores up.
Both sides had their chances throughout the game to go on and seal the win, but to take their opportunities.
Striker Robbie Keane had a glorious chance, but he took too long to control the ball and was robbed in the box in the first half.
Sigurdsson had his own chance to give Spurs the win, but he too failed to score.
Both teams played without key players, most notably, the Galaxy, which were without David Beckham and Landon Donovan, who are resting for Wednesday night’s MLS All-Star game against Chelsea.
