Highlights, Report – No. 2 Baylor Returns With 100-69 Win At Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. — — MaCio Teague registered a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 2 Baylor eased past Kansas State in a Big 12 fixture played at the Bramlage Coliseum here in Manhattan, on Saturday.

Baylor Returns After COVID-19 Concerns

The game was the conference opener for the Bears (5-0, 1-0 Big 12) who returned to the court after halting all team activities for a week because of coronavirus protocols and canceling two previous games.

“There was definitely an excitement for us to be here and to play again,” Baylor coach Scott Drew said. “Every time you play it’s a joy and a privilege.”

Teague was 8-of-14 shooting from the field and made five 3-pointers in the win, as Baylor remained undefeated from five starts this season.

Davion Mitchell added 20 points and connected on 6-for-10 from beyond the arc as the Bear shot 46.9% from 3-pointers on 15-for-32 attempts.

Jared Butler also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 assists for his first career double-double and Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua finished with 13 points off the bench for Baylor, which shot 64% in the first half and led by 29 at the break.

“Butler is full of brilliance and very efficient,” Drew said. “I think it started on the defensive end and the offensive end followed.”

Perfect Shooting Evening For Gordon

Antonio Gordon paced Kansas State (3-5, 1-1) with 23 points on 9-of-9 shooting to go with six rebounds off the bench.

Selton Miguel scored 14 points, while the Wildcats’ leading scorer Mike McGuirl was held for five points on 2-of-7 shooting with six rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes.

Overall, Baylor shot 57.8% on 37-of-64 attempts.

Kansas State shot 47.5% (28-59) and was 28.6% overall from 3-pointers (6-21).

Baylor will take on the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Monday at home..

Kansas State will entertain Jacksonville at 1:00 pm on Monday.
