The clash will see the likes of Kobe Braynt and Pau Gasol of the Lakers matching talents against LeBron James and Dwyane at the Staples Center and the fans are eager to take in the contest.
“Miami Heat have a better record than ours in the league this season, but we have a good record at home and will make them work hard if they want to win,” a Lakers support said ahead of the game.
Kobe and Lakers have a 16-2 record at home, while on the road the Miami Heat (28-8) are 13-6 away from home.
Miami saw its nine game win streak ended against the Utah Jazz in a 99-98 defeat on Friday night with James, like he did the All-Star defeat, passed up the opportunity to take a potential game-winning shot.
“I just try to make the right plays and do what it takes to win basketball games,” said James.
“At the end of the day, games are not lost on one shot at the end or me not taking a shot. But I know the chatter will begin.”
James finished the game with 35 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
On the same night, the Lakers were brushing aside the Sacramento Kings 115-107, with Bryant scoring 38 points and eight rebounds while Andrew Bynum adding 19 points and 15 boards.
Heading in the game Bryant (28.8), James (28.1) and Dwyane Wade (23.2) are the leading team scorers, while Bynum – (LAL) – 12.8 and Pau Gasol – (LAL) – 10.4 head the way in the rebound area.
In other games on Sunday, the New York Knicks will take on Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden, New Jersey Nets and the Charlotte Bobcats play at Time Warner Cable Arena, Golden State play Toronto at Air Canada Centre, while Chicago meet Philadelphia at Wachovia Center.
Elsewhere, LA Clippers meet Houston, Sacramento play Phoenix, while Denver meet San Antonio.
The Lakers and Miami game is a must see though.
