Manchester United, Manchester City Hunt Wins: ESPN3 Live

MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Manchester City and Manchester United will both be hoping to turn around Match Day 1 defeats in the Champions League when they return to action on Wednesday.

The English Premier League sides both fell in the opening week of the Champions League and will need to bounce back on match day 2, especially with Chelsea and Arsenal both losing their respective games on Tuesday.

Premier League leaders Manchester United, who were beaten 2-1 at PSV in their Group B opener, will entertain German side Wolfsburg in what is expected to be a tough tie at Old Trafford.

Since losing to PSV the Red Devils have won two straight games in the EPL, including a 3-0 victory over Sunderland at the weekend and Louis van Gaal is confident his team will carry over that good form into the European competition.

Manchester City, in the meantime, have been struggling since losing to Juventus in their opening game and will need to quickly get out of this rut.

The Citizens have dropped three of its last four matches, including back-to-back defeats in the Premier League to West Ham and Tottenham. Spurs hammered the Sky Blues 4-1 at the weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini side’s single victory during that stretch came in the League Cup against Sunderland, 4-1 on that day.

The supporters of each of these clubs will be hoping their respective side pick up a victory on Wednesday, but will also secretly wishing both sides will get the job done, for the sake of the Premier League.
