NBA Preseason Games Scores: Oct. 18; Memphis Wins Again

OKLAHOMA CITY, Sporting Alert — The results and scores from NBA preseason games that took place on Sunday, Oct. 18.

THUNDER 111, NUGGETS 98

OKLAHOMA CITY — Kevin Durant scored 23 points on his return from a night off and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Denver Nuggets 111-98 in an NBA preseason game on Sunday.

Durant, who sat out Friday night’s 94-78 defeat at Memphis, returned to play a 2015 preseason high 31 minutes, shot 9 of 14 from the field and had six rebounds, four assists and two blocks as well.

Serge Ibaka scored 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the floor, with six rebounds, while guard Russell Westbrook added 17 points, 12 assists and five rebounds.

Like Durant, Ibaka and Westbrook were also rested at the Grizzlies.

There were also heavy contributions for the Oklahoma City Thunder (4-1) off the bench, as center Enes Kanter had 18 points and 11 rebounds and backup guard Dion Waiters scored 17 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Rookie Emmanuel Mudiay led the Nuggets (4-2) with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists and Danilo Gallinari and Erick Green each added 16 points.

GRIZZLIES 90, TIMBERWOLVES 68

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Courtney Lee scored a team-high 18 points and led four starters in double figures and the Memphis Grizzlies top the Minnesota Timberwolves 90-68 in an NBA preseason game on Sunday night.

Lee shot 6 of 12 from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range for Memphis.

Zach Randolph, who scored just four points, was the only Grizzlies starter to not reach double figures, as the stars returned, following a rest night in the win over Oklahoma City.

Tony Allen scored 13 points, while Marc Gasol and Mike Conley added 12 apiece for Memphis (5-0) which stayed unbeaten in the preseason.

Russ Smith had 10 points, four assists and three steals off the bench in the win.

Gorgui Dieng led the Timberwolves with 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks off the bench and was the only Minnesota player to score in double figures.

Kevin Garnett was successful on his first four shots from the field in the first half before finishing with 4 of 5 and scored eight points in 17 minutes.

The likes of Vince Carter, Jeff Green, Matt Barnes and Brandan Wright did not play for Memphis.

RAPTORS 87, CAVALIERS 81

TORONTO — Kevin Love made his first appearance for the Cleveland Cavaliers since suffering a shoulder injury in the playoffs last season when he featured in the Cavs’ 87-81 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

Love returned to play 13 minutes and scored six points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the defeat as Cleveland, playing without LeBron James again, falls to 0-6 in preseason games in 2015.

Jonas Valanciunas scored 12 points and Cory Joseph added 11 points and six assists to lead the way for the Raptors (4-2).

Mo Williams scored 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists and Matthew Dellavedova added 12 points and five assists for the Cavaliers.
