At the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Goran Dragic poured in a season-high 34 points, Hassan Whiteside recorded his 17th double-double of the season, and the Heat beat the Washington Wizards 112-101.
Dragic shot 14 of 23 from the field and dished out five assists with five rebounds for Miami (8-17) which snap a five-game losing streak.
Whiteside had 17 points and 16 rebounds, James Johnson added 14 points off the bench for Miami, while Wayne Ellington and Tyler Johnson both scored 11 points for the Heat, who shot 51 percent.
John Wall led the Wizards with 30 points, eight assists and six rebounds and Bradley Beal added 29 for Washington (9-14), which has now dropped both games against Miami this season.
Markieff Morris chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds for the Wizards, who were only 5-for-23 from 3-pointers in the defeat.
The travellers, who trailed 59-53 at halftime, had won two straight before their trip to Florida.
Meanwhile, the Heat, who led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, were winning for only the third time in 11 home games.
Miami forward Justise Winslow missed his 16th straight game with the sprained left wrist, despite taking part in the team’s morning shootaround.
At the Toyota Center in Houston, the Rockets improved to 18-7 with a 122-118 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
James Harden paced the Rockets with 36 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds and reserve Eric Gordon added 24 points with six 3-pointers and two important free throws down the stretch for Houston to survive an intense battled to win its seventh consecutive game.
Ryan Anderson added 19 points, Nene finished with 12 and Patrick Beverley ended with 11 and a key late steal off a Sean Kilpatrick poor pass with six seconds remaining to help secure the win for the Rockets.
Brook Lopez scored 26 points for Brooklyn, with Kilpatrick adding 17 points, but also had seven turnovers in the defeat.
Isaiah Whitehead scored 13 points, Jeremy Lin ended with 11, while Trevor Booker and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson each had 10 points for the Nets (6-17) who were losing two straight and five of the last six overall.
In another NBA score on Monday, DeMar DeRozan scored 30 points, Terrence Ross supported with 25 and the Toronto Raptors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 122-100.
Elsewhere, Paul George and Myles Turner each contributed 22 points for the Indiana Pacers to top the Charlotte Hornets 110-94, while Wesley Matthews scored 25 points for Dallas Mavericks to conquer the Denver Nuggets 112-92 at the American Airlines Center.
