NFL Week One: Results and Box Scores – Sept.9
TEXAS (Sporting Alert, – Box Scores) — The Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers were among the winners in Week One of the 2013-14 NFL season on a busy day on Sunday.
In the late kick-off at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Tony Romo threw two touchdowns passes and tallied 263 yards and the Cowboys picked up a close 34-31 win over the New York Giants.
Eli Manning threw four touchdowns passes and ended the night with 450 yards, but had three interceptions in the defeat for the Giants.
In another close game at the Ralph Wilson Stadium, the New England Patriots edged the Buffalo Bills 23-21. Tom Brady led the way for the Patriots, throwing two TD passes and finished with 288 yards.
Elsewhere on Sunday, the New York Jets narrowly beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 18-17 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Nick Folk kicking 48 yard field goal with two-seconds left in the game.
Adrian Peterson was impressive in his season opener for the Minnesota Vikings, but they were beaten 34-24, by the Detroit Lions.
The Kansas City Chiefs traveled and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-2 at the EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL, as new head coach Andy Reid got his season off on a winning note.
