FORT MYERS, FL – No. 1 Gonzaga has decided to test its talents early and the Bulldogs should have a very busy day when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks in what is expected to be a college basketball thriller on Thanksgiving Day.
The matchup between two of the top teams in the nation is the featured game on the day and No. 6 ranked Jayhawks are showing lots of confidence as they get their COVID-19 delayed season underway.
Gonzaga has been installed as 4-point favorite for this showdown, which will take place on neutral ground at Suncoast Credit Union Arena here in Fort Myers, Florida.
Tip-off time for this encounter is slated for 1:30 p.m. ET with FOX providing the live television coverage and FoxsportsGo.com streaming he action live online and any streaming platforms, including the FireStick 4K, Roku, computers and any smart phone.
Both programs were well set for a collision in the Final Four last season before the postseason – March Madness – tournament was canceled because of COVID-19, and head into this new with national championship aspirations.
It is expected to be a very tight contest with Kansas backed for a narrow victory according to the bookies.
Additionally, according to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, the Jayhawks have a slim advantage – 50.8% to 49.2% chance to beat Gonzaga and show that they are not too far behind the Bulldogs – despite losing two of their best players from last year, in big man Udoka Azubuike and guard Devon Dotson.
However, with the return of several top talents, including Marcus Garrett and Ochai Agbaji, and the addition of five-star recruit Bryce Thompson, we should expect another exciting year from Bill Self’s team.
Meanwhile, Gonzaga also lost two of their top players from last season in big man Filip Petrušev and Killian Tillie, but like the Jayhawks, can call on a number of returners, highlighted by Corey Kispert and Joel Ayayi. Five-star recruit Jalen Suggs is expected to have a very good season for the Zags.
