The Chelsea forward has been battling to regain his fitness after he was diagnosed with viral meningitis, which puts his participation in the tournament in doubt.

Sturridge, though is back to working with the squad and has been handed a starting place tonight.

“He looks very good, to be fair,” Pearce said.

“Everything we have asked of him at the moment, he’s done. He’s come through that okay.

“He has been blowing on occasions when he has done, but I think the game from a physical point of view, will tell us quite a lot.”

Also in the starting team to face Brazil are captain Ryan Giggs, fellow Welsh veteran Craig Bellamy, while Manchester United attacking midfielder Tom Cleverley and Manchester City fullback Micah Richards also included.

Brazil, in the meantime will showcase the likes of attacker Neymar, Hulk, Leandro Damiao, Dos Santos Oscar and captain Thiago Silva.
