MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Jose Mourinho has named his 20 man squad for Real Madrid’s Primera Division meeting against Real Valladolid in the Nuevo Zorrilla on Saturday.
The squad sees the return of captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Kaka, Luka Modric, Mesut Ozil, Pepe and Jose Maria Callejon all included in the squad.
Jose Mourinho’s side is currently sitting third in the La Liga table standings, five points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid, who they beat 2-0 last weekend and 11 behind leaders and arch rivals Barcelona.
Barcelona doesn’t play until Sunday for Real Madrid can cut the gap to eight-points and Casillas calls for concentration.
“The targets set for the end of the year are there,” Spanish international told Madrid official website at www.realmadrid.com.
“The pity is perhaps that the distance between us and Atletico in the league, despite us having reduced it last weekend (by beating them 2-0), and with Barcelona is quite big.
“We made it through to the next round of the Champions League and we expect a tough opponent in a difficult knockout tie, but between now and February there will be time to prepare.
“Now we want to focus on the league, and cut the points difference with the teams above, and keep getting through the rounds in the Copa del Rey.”
