(Sporting Alert) — Andrew Williams scored twice to help Swindon Town hammered Tranmere Rovers 5-0 in the English League One, while Rochdale beat Cheltenham Town 4-1 in the English League Two on Friday.
Williams netted in the 21st and 51st minutes, while Danny Hollands, Raffaele De Vita and Matt Ritchie also added first half goals in the victory.
Swindon Town were 4-0 up at half-time.
The other League One game saw Bury and Shrewsbury ending 2-2.
Marvin Morgan and John Taylor were the goalscorers for Shrewsbury, while Matthew Doherty and Steven Schumacher, who scored a last minute equalizer, scored for Bury.
In English League Two action, Ashley Grimes netted a brace and Robert Bobby Grant and Dele Abedola each added a goal in Rochdale’s comfortable 4-1 win over Cheltenham Town, who got their strike via an own goal by Phil Edwards.
Elsewhere in League Two, Southend United eased to a 3-0 win over Chesterfield, with Gavin Tomlin scoring two goals in the win. Ricky Holmes scored a hat-trick, including a 53rd minute penalty for relegation threatened Barnet to edged tenth place Burton Albion 3-2 at home.
In the Championship, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored in each half for Wolves to beat Blackpool 2-1, while Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye scored a second half winner in Hull City’s 2-1 victory over Derby County.
Hull joins Cardiff City at the top of the league table.
And in the Conference National, Ross Hannah scored the lone goal for Grimsby in the 76th minute in its 1-0 win over Wrexham.
The victory saw Grimsby taking a one-point lead in the table standings.
