Scoreboard: England all out for 496 v India – Root and Anderson record

NOTTINGHAM, England (SportingAlert) — England were finally bowled out for 496 in their first innings on the fourth day of the first Test against India at Trent Bridge on Saturday.

Joe Root and fast bowler and James Anderson shared a test record 10th-wicket partnership of 198, surpassing the previous best stand of 163, to help England recovered from 298 for nine on the third and build a 39 run lead.

The old last wicket stand was set by Australians Phil Hughes and Ashton Agar during the Ashes series.

Root ended with an undefeated 154, while Anderson made 81, the highest score by and England No. 11 and his maiden test half-century, before he became Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fifth victim.
