Timberwolves end Thunder 12-game streak with 99-93 win

Minneapolis (Sporting Alert) — The Minnesota Timberwolves rushed out to a commanding lead and then held off the charging Oklahoma City Thunder to register a 99-93 victory at Target Center Thursday night.

Oklahoma City, with the defeat, saw its 12 game winning streak snapped.

Kevin Love collected 28 points, including 4-of-9 from three-point range, 11 rebounds and seven assists in the victory for the Timberwolves, which finally ended an 12 game skid against the Thunder.

Nikola Pekovic was also impressive for Minnesota Thursday night, as he finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Jose Barea, who knocked down three of his four attempts from behind the arc, added 18 points for the home side, which jumped out to a 30-18 lead after the first quarter.

Kevin Durant, coming off a 41 point performance against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, had 33 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Thunder, while Russell Westbrook was just shy of a triple double.

The energetic point guard had 30 points, 11 boards and nine assists in the defeat.

The Thunder were without shoot guard Kevin Martin, who missed the game with a bruised quad.
