MILAN (Sporting Alert) — Italian striker Mario Balotelli is well set to leave the English Premier League for the Serie A, following reports that Manchester City has accepted an offer for the player.
According to our sources, Balotelli will sign with AC Milan today, with reports claiming the fee will be in the area of €20m
Sky Sport Italia is also reporting that the 22-year-old, who has only scored once in 14 Premier League games this season, has agreed personal terms with Milan and is looking forward to returning to his native Italy.
Balotelli was also linked with defending Serie A champions and current leaders Juventus, but agreed to take a pay cut to speed up the transfer move to San Siro.
“They have found an agreement on Balotelli’s salary,” Valentina Fass of Sky Italia told Sky Sports News on Tuesday.
“He was due to get 5m euros net a year plus bonuses, but the problem is the transfer fee. City want a higher amount while AC Milan doesn’t want to give more than 20m euros.
“They’re trying to discuss details and are very close to closing the deal, so it really looks like Balotelli will be coming to Milan.
“It’s even more likely now because Balotelli has offered to reduce his salary to 4m euros a year. This will probably mean they’ll be able to close the deal because the difference between what City want and what Milan want to give is 2-3m euros.
“It looks like Mario himself is trying to make the deal happen.”
