Summer signing Thiago Alcantara makes his first start for Liverpool and will play in midfield alongside Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson.

Today’s Merseyside derby also sees forward Sadio Mane returning to the team lineup after he was out because of a COVID-19 positive test, while defender Joel Matip returns to the line-up to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the defense.

Joe Gomez, who was hooked at Aston Villa, dropped to the bench, along with Gini Wijnaldum and Diogo Jota.

EVERTON TEAM NEWS

For Everton, manager Carlo Ancelotti makes two changes to the side that picked up a 4-2 victory Brighton last time out as midfielders Allan and Andre Gomes are back fit.

They come in as replacements for Tom Davies and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

New recruit Ben Godfrey is among the substitutes, while Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne shaking off injuries to start in the full-back positions.
