It was the highest point total for Honor since he joined Clemson after sitting out last season.

Clyde Trapp added 11 points with seven rebounds and Aamir Simms finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Tigers (9-1, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) who “woke up” after a slow start to win their fourth straight.

“Thankfully, our guys woke up and responded the way good teams do,” Clemson coach Brad Brownell said.

“Nick made shots and gave us a huge jolt of confidence. Aamir played great down the stretch. I’m proud of P.J. [Hall] and Alex [Hemenway], who both hit big shots for us,” added Brownell.

He added: “The longer the game went on, the better we executed. We’ve really executed down the stretch well recently. I’m super proud of our guys for handling their business against a team that’s really aggressive.”

DJ Funderburk paced NC State with 20 points on 5 of 8 shooting with seven rebounds.

Devon Daniels finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolfpack  (6-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who led for most of the game, but were unable to hold on.
