TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Sporting Alert) — No. 15 Texas A&M handed No. 1 Alabama its first defeat of the season and shook-up the race to the national championship with a 29-24 result on Saturday night.
Quarterback Johnny Manziel threw for 253 yards, two touchdown and rushed for 92 yards in the win for the Aggies (8-2, 5-2 SEC).
The Alabama Crimson Tide (9-1, 6-1) found themselves down 20-0 in the first quarter, but fought back to make the game interested.
However, Texas A&M sustained the pressure, capitalized on their opponents mistakes and turn them into scores of their own, including Malcome Kennedy 24-yard touchdown in the closing minutes of the game.
Amari Cooper scored a 54 yard touchdown close the gap to 29-24, but that was as close as they could get.
