A couple of exceptional fields await Oregon in the regular season finale, where the Ducks will bid farewell to 19 seniors Friday at the 2013 Twilight Meet. The Oregon Twilight gets underway with field events at 3:40 p.m. and the featured track events at 6 p.m.
The Twilight meet offers something for every fan, from the elite and masters races to the senior ceremony to the popular middle school miles, kids’ half-lapper and Greek Relays. All kids aged 5-12 are welcome to participate in the Half-Lapper, and need only to sign up at Hayward Field the night of the meet.
TWILIGHT MEET WHAT TO WATCH
As usual, a number of professionals are starting to tune up for the 2013 summer season and many will be visiting TrackTown USA for the Twilight Meet. Perhaps nowhere will that be more evident than the men’s 800 meters, where Olympians (and UO alums) Galen Rupp and Matthew Centrowitz headline the entries that also include Oregon Track Club Elite’s Ben Blankenship, Ryan Waite of Brigham Young and Duck runners Boru Guyota, Russell Hornsby and Chad Noelle. The race will even feature the world’s best pace setter, UO alum Matt Scherer. Given the quality of that field, there has been interest from other big names about jumping into the race – stay tuned!
The Oregon Twilight will be webcast live for free on http://pac-12.com/live/goducks.aspx?DB_OEM_ID=500). Former Duck track coach Tom Heinonen and Jesse Fukawa will handle the announcing duties.
