2017 French Open Men’s Singles Round 1 Day 1 Results

PARIS, Sporting Alert — Results from the Round 1 matches of the French Open Men’s Singles on Sunday.

Dominic Thiem, one of the tournament’s biggest challengers to win the crown, was among the players opening their campaign on a winning note.

The sixth-seed Austrian flashed into the second round of French by beating Australia’s Bernard Tomic 6-4 6-0 6-2 in what turned out to be a one-sided first round contest.

Also winning in first round competition on Sunday was the 11th-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria after he beat France’s Stephane Robert, 6-2 6-3 6-4, while the 19th-seeded Albert Ramos of Spain defeated Marius Copil of Romania, 6-7(7) 6-1 6-4 6-2.

Spain’s No. 20 seed Pablo Carreno beat Florian Mayer of Germany, 6-4 6-2 6-2, while Croatian No. 23 seed Ivo Karlovic (Croatia) beat Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, 7-6(5) 7-5 6-4.

However, No. 26 seed Gilles Muller (Luxembourg) was dumped by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (Spain), 7-6(4) 6-7(2) 6-2 6-2.
