Louisville sweeps Baylor at 2022 NCAA regional tournament results and scores

The NCAA volleyball tournament 2022 scores and recap from the semifinal games played on Thursday night, December 15. No. 1 seeds Texas and Louisville both secured place in the 2022 National Championship after seeing off respective challenges in Omaha, Nebraska, in Final Four action.

Texas Rallies To Bounce San Diego In Four Sets

The Longhorns beat the San Diego Toreros 28-26, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 for a 3-1 win on Thursday night to extend their current win streak to 13 games and improved to 27-1 overall on the term.

Sophomore outside hitter Madisen Skinner led the way for Texas with 17 kills, and adding four digs and three blocks. Logan Eggleston finished with 16 kills, nine digs, a team-high five blocks and one service ace, while Molly Phillips matched her career-best with 14 kills.

Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres led the Longhorns on the night with an impressive 46 assists, to go along with 11 digs, four kills and two blocks, and Zoe Fleck finished with 21 digs and supported with five assists in the win.

Breana Edwards led the way for San Diego with 14 kills, with Katie Lukes and Grace Frohling each adding nine. Gabby Blossom ended with 37 assists and 18 digs, while Leyla Blackwell finished with seven blocks for the Torres (31-2,18-0 WCC) in the loss.

Louisville Tops Pittsburgh In Exciting Final Four Clash

Meanwhile, in the second NCAA Women’s Volleyball National Semifinal game, No. 1 seeded Louisville outlasted No. 2 seed Pittsburgh in five sets, taking the contest 3-2 after both teams refused to surrender before the full duration of sets.

After splitting the opening four sets, the Cardinals dominated the fifth and final set to secure a 3-2 win over their conference rival. Louisville advanced to the National Championship game with a 25-18, 23-25,25-22, 22-25, 15-2 victory.

Claire Chaussee led the team with 25 kills, Anna DeBeer (15), and Aiko Jones (12) also finish in double figures. Elena Scott finished with a new career high 28 digs, and Raquel Lazaro tallied 49 assists, 11 digs, and five blocks in the win for the Cardinals (31-2, 17-1 ACC).

Courtney Buzzerio paced Pitt with 13 kills, with Serena Gray ending with 10, while Emmy Klika collected 13 digs, and Valeria Vazquez Gomez finished with 12. Meanwhile, Rachel Fairbanks led the team with 29 assists and ended with Lexis Akeo 14 in the defeat for the Panthers (31-4,17-1 ACC).

The 2022 NCAA National Championship takes place on Saturday night will be at 8:00 p.m. ET and broadcast live on ESPN2.
