Africa Cup of Nations table standings – Jan 26

(Sporting Alert) — After two rounds of games, here is how the Africa Cup of Nations table standings look as of Saturday night Jan. 26.

Following Saturday’s action, Ivory Coast booked its place in the quarter-finals with one more game to play. The pre-tournament favourites crushed Tunisia 3-0, with Gervinho, Yaya Toure and Didier Ya Konan all getting on the scoresheet in the victory.

With the three points, Ivory Coast moved to the top of Group D with maximum six points from two games, while Togo, who defeated Algeria 2-0 moved back into the race to earn a quarter-finals slot.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Dove Wome were on target for Togo, who joined Tunisia on three points with the pair meeting in the last group match to see who will go through with The Elephants.

Algeria, still without a point from its two games, are knocked out of the tournament.

Group C is being led by Burkina Faso, with defending champions Zambia in second place with two draws. Nigeria are third with two points as well, while Ethiopia are on one.

South Africa lead Group A with four points, with Ghana heading Group B with the same amount of points.
