MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Forward Sergio Aguero is on the bench for Manchester City for tonight’s Champions League Group D clash with Spanish Champions Real Madrid here at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Aguero had been doubtful for the game because of a knee injury he picked up on the opening day of the Barclays Premier League season, but has apparently recovered enough to book a place on the bench.
Carlos Tevez has been selected to lead the attacking line alongside Samir Nasri, David Silva and Yaya Toure.
Italian forward Mario Balotelli was named in the starting team initially, but is now not even on the bench because of technical reasons the club said.
Maicon starts in the defensive line, while Gareth Barry is in the midfield
For Real Madrid, midfield playmaker Luka Modric starts and will be linking up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel di Maria.
Kaka, Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil and Michael Essien are amongst the subs for Real Madrid.
