Alabama off to quick 21-0 start in Discovery BCS National Championship
MIAMI GARDENS (Sporting Alert) — Defending champions Alabama has turned one of the most anticipated Discovery BCS National Championship games against Notre Dame into a one sided contest in the early goings Monday night.
The No. 2 Crimson Tide jumped off to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter, before added another score in the second, for the commanding 21-0 lead before the half-time break.
Eddie Lacy rushed up the middle for a 20-yard touchdown open the scoring for Alabama at the sold out Sun Life Stadium with 13:13 on the clock.
No. 1 Notre Dame were in further trouble when AJ McCarron passed to Michael Williams for 3 yard touchdown before T.J. Yeldon made it 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter.
The Fighting Irish (12-0) entered the game undefeated, but will need to step things up on the offensive side if they stand any chance of keep a perfect for the season.
Alabama defeated LSU to win the BCS title last year.
