EUGENE, Ore. (Sporting Alert) — Allyson Felix set a new personal best of 21.69 to win the women’s 200m at the U.S. Olympic trials to pick the team for the London Games on Saturday.

“I am so happy to be on this team,” said Felix, whose previous personal best of 21.81 was set in 2007 in Osaka.
Carmelita Jeter was second in 22.11 with Sanya Richards-Ross taking third in 22.22.
MERRITT DELIGHT, OLIVER LEFT DISAPPOINTED
In the men’s 110m hurdles, Aries Merritt produced a world-leading 12.93 seconds to take the title and book his place to London, but there was disappointment for David Oliver, who could only managed a fifth place finish.
The winning time was also a personal best for Merritt, who was crowned World Indoor champion in Istanbul in March and he said his performance on Saturday certainly makes him one of the favourites to win the gold medal at the Olympics.
World champion Jason Richardson came home strong to take second place in a personal best also of 12.98, while Jeffrey Porter lowered his best mark to take third in 13.08.
Antwon Hicks was fourth in 13.14, with Oliver left back in fifth in 13.17.
In the men’s 200m semi-finals, Maurice Mitchell posted the fastest time, at 20.43 to make the final.
