MADRID (SportingAlert) — Real Madrid have confirmed that Angel Di Maria has asked to leave the club and is expected to be sold in the current transfer window.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed this to the media on Thursday, as the likes of Manchester United and PSG continue to be linked with the Argentine international.
“Di Maria asked to go in the summer and has rejected an offer from the club,” Ancelotti revealed. “The player has to look for a solution.
“If when the (transfer) market closes he’s still here, he will work with us like last season and there will be no problem.”
Di Maria was a vital member of the Real Madrid team that won the Champions League last season, but is set to lose his place, following the recruitment of Colombian World Cup star James Rodriquez in the summer.
English Premier League giants Manchester United and French champions PSG are the favourites to sign the winger who is reportedly valued at £50 million.
It is understood that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has ordered the club to sign Di Maria at all cost as he seeks to bolster his squad with a world-class winger.
