NEW YORK, Sporting Alert – Alabama continues to lead the AP Top 25 college football rankings in Week 13, while there are three Big Ten teams in the top five on Sunday.
As expected, the Crimson Tide returned as the unanimous No. 1 team after collecting all 61 first-place votes for 1,525 points this week after improving to a perfect 11-0 this season with a comfortable 31-3 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday.
Meanwhile, for the first time in 56 years, the Big Ten conference placed three teams in the AP top five rankings, with Ohio State and Michigan at No. 2 and No. 3 and Wisconsin coming in as the fifth-ranked team this week.
The Buckeyes (10-1) retained their second-ranked place after squeezing out a 17-16 win over Big Ten rival Michigan State on Saturday for 1,455 points.
The Wolverines (10-1) replaced Louisville as the third-ranked program in the AP top 25, while ACC team Clemson also moved up one place to No. 4 after putting away Wake Forest 35-13 to bounce back from the setback against Pittsburgh two Saturday’s ago.
Louisville, which was blown away at Houston on Friday night, dropped eight spots to No. 11, while the Cougars returned to the rankings at No. 18.
Washington moves up one spot to No. 6 ahead of the showdown at No. 23 Washington State this coming weekend, while Oklahoma is up to No. 7, Penn State is at No. 8, while Colorado and Oklahoma State which jumped three spots each, are 9th and 10th.
USC, which secured its seventh successive win over the weekend is up three spots to No. 12, with Florida, the undefeated Western Michigan and Florida State rounding out the top 15.
Auburn, Nebraska, Houston, West Virginia and Boise State are 16 through 20.
The rest of the AP top 25 rankings is completed by Utah, Texas A&M, Washington State, Tennessee and LSU.
San Diego State (24) and Troy (25) dropped from rankings.
