AP Top 25 College Football Rankings

DALLAS, Sporting Alert – As expected, Alabama is still the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 college football rankings for Week 8, while Ohio State stays at No. 2 on Sunday (16).

The Crimson Tide picked up 60 of the 61 first-place votes for 1,524 points after hammering then-No. 9 Tennessee 49-10 on Saturday.

The victory last week for the reigning College Football Playoffs champions saw them improve to 7-0 on the season and 17th straight in the regular season – dating back to last term.

Next up for Nick Saban’s team is a day with No. 6 Texas A&M this coming weekend.

Retaining its place as the second-ranked team in the country is Ohio State, following the thrilling overtime 30-23 victory over then-No. 8 Wisconsin on Saturday.

The Buckeyes (6-0) struggled on offense early in the game, but their defense kept them into the game by limiting the Badgers to just field goals, until things turned around in the second half.

Michigan, which was idle this past weekend and collected the other first-place vote, replaced Clemson at No. 3 this week, while the Tigers slipped one spot to No. 4.

Washington completed the top five, while the Aggies and Louisville held their respective spots at No. 6 and No. 7.

Nebraska is up two spots to No. 8, Baylor also jumped two places to No. 9, while Wisconsin only slipped two spots to No. 10, despite the defeat to Ohio State.

Houston is up two spots to No. 11, West Virginia moves up eight slots to No. 12, with Florida State, Boise State and Florida completing the top 15 this week.

Tennessee dropped nine places to No. 18, while Ole Miss is down 11 slots to No. 23.

Returning to the AP Top 25 college football rankings this week are North Carolina, at No. 22 and LSU, at No. 25.

They replaced Miami (16) and Virginia Tech (17) who both suffered defeats on Saturday.
