LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Injured Arsenal players Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both out of Tuesday’s English Capital One Cup tie with Reading, but fellow winger Theo Walcott is set to start the game.
Gervinho picked up an ankle injury and was a quick substitute after coming into the game as a sub in the narrow 1-0 win over QPR in Premier League at the weekend and will play.
“He (Gervinho) has an ankle problem,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed on the club’s official website at ww.arsenal.com.
“How long he will be out, we don’t know.”
Wenger also said that England attacker Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is still recovering from a hip problem, is not not available for the cup game.
“Oxlade-Chamberlain is not available for this game,” he said. “He would have loved to play.
“Apart from that, I don’t think anyone else will be back.”
Arsenal enter the game heavy favourites to progress to the next stage of the tournament, but Wenger has warned his players not to take anything for granted.
