Arsenal News: Jack Wilshere Available For Swansea Trip

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Midfielder Jack Wilshere is available to face Swansea City in this weekend’s English Premier League game at Liberty Stadium, his club Arsenal says.

Wilshere missed Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League at the weekend and the exciting midweek 3-3 Champions League at home to Anderlecht because of illness, but manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he’ll be in the squad to face Swansea.

“Jack is alright,” Wenger said on Arsenal official website at www.arsenal.com. “He is back in the squad for Sunday.”

At the same time though, Wenger says club captain Mikel Arteta will not be available for the contest after he suffered a hamstring injury against Anderlecht on Tuesday night.

However, Wenger expects the holding midfielder to return after the international break.

“Arteta will be out for Sunday,” the Frenchman said. “He has a mild hamstring strain and he will be out for a short period because it’s a grade one.

“He should be back after the internationals.”

Olivier Giroud, who underwent surgery for a broken tibia earlier this year, has been progressing well and Wenger said the forward is set to return to training next week.

“Giroud joins in training next week.”

Arsenal are desperate to get back to action, following the midweek meltdown in Europe, but Wenger insists his team will learn from the disappointing second half late display.

Wilshere was also among the six Arsenal players called up by England national manager Roy Hodgson for a Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia on Nov. 15 and friendly international with Scotland on Nov. 18

Calum Chambers, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck are the other players in the squad.
