ARSENAL V TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS
LONDON, Sporting Alert – Harry Kane is back in the starting lineup for Tottenham for today’s English Premier League north London derby game against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
Kane returns to full training last week and the England forward is immediately thrown back into the starting team and manager Mauricio Pochettino says he’s ready to play.
“He’s ready. He’s fully fit,” Pochettino said.
Kane, Opta Stats, has scored four goals in three English Premier League games against Arsenal and he will be hoping to add to that tally as he seeks to help Tottenham on the trails of the early leaders.
However, the manager has also confirmed that midfielder Dele Alli picked up a knee injury in training on Saturday and misses out at the Emirates.
He also revealed that the England international will be out for “a few weeks.”
Elsewhere, Danny Rose returns for the injured Ben Davies, while Kevin Wimmer comes into the team for his first start this season.
For Arsenal, Petr Cech starts in goal, while Theo Walcott and Hector Bellerin, who were both pre-match injury doubts, take up their places in the starting XI.
Granit Xhaka is back after a three match suspension and will play alongside Francis Coquelin in the midfield.
Comment on the discipline of midfielder Xhaka, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: “Xhaka has to learn from experience and I am sure he will. He has a good opportunity to show that today.”
Mesut Ozil, who has three goals and one assist in the Premier League this season, also starts, so too do Alex Iwobi and Alexis Sanchez with Kieran Gibbs,Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mohamed Elneny amongst the substitutes.
