LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon have scored first half goals to put Tottenham 2-0 up against the wobbling Arsenal at White Hart Lane in their Premier League clash.
The on form Bale, as expected, gave Tottenham the lead in the 37th minute when he beat the offside trap to slip the ball past goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, after racing onto a through ball from Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger were hit on the back foot again, after more poor defending cost them another goal, after the Gunners back four stepped up and got into trouble.
Another through ball was picked up by winger Aaron Lennon and he easily skipped around Szczesny and then rolled home into an empty net.
A victory today for Tottenham would see them going back to third on the EPL standings, while a defeat could see Arsenal’s top four place all but vanished.
