LONDON, Sporting Alert – English Premier League fixtures and television channels for the forthcoming weekend, January 22-23.

Arsenal v Chelsea Highlighted Matchup?

The highlighted fixture of the round is expected to come from Emirates Stadium on Sunday where leaders Arsenal will battle against struggle defending champion Chelsea.

Arsenal sits atop of the EPL standings with 44 points after 22 round of matches, with this season’s surprise package Leicester City also on 44 points in second place.

The Gunners have drawn their last two Premier League games — locked 3-3 with Liverpool on Jan 13 before finishing 0-0 with Stoke City on the road.

Blues Can’t Afford To Lose

Chelsea, in the meantime, is sitting 14th in the standings on 25pts and is desperate for points in the push to finish in the top four at the end of the season.

The Blues head into this matchup on the back of two draws as well — finishing 2-2 at home against West Brom and 3-3 with Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Another defeat on the road this weekend would add to what has already been a disappointing campaign for the defending champions who are slowly running out of time to stay in the race for a Champions League spot.

The last time these two sides met on September 19, Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard each got on the scoresheet for Chelsea in a 2-0 victory over a nine-man Arsenal at Stamford Bridge and interim boss Guus Hiddink will be hoping for a similar result away from home.

Hunters Ready To Pounce

Leicester City can move atop of the EPL standings with a win over Stoke City on Saturday, as they seek to rebound from the FA Cup defeat to Tottenham in midweek.

Three points for the Foxes would see them going three clear of Arsenal before the Gunners kick-off on Sunday.

Third-place Manchester City will also have its eyes on the top spot, as a win for them and slip-ups by Leicester City and Arsenal would see them moving to the No. 1 slot.

The Citizens, who are on 43 points heading into this weekend, will face West Ham United at Boleyn Ground with the Hammers looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in Week 22.

Elsewhere in the English Premier League for Week 23, Manchester United, coming off a 1-0 win over Liverpool the last time out, will host Southampton, fellow Champions League and title chasers Tottenham travels to battle with Crystal Palace, while Norwich City and Liverpool will meet at Carrow Road.
