LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere is in contention to make his return to first team football when Arsenal take on QPR in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.
The England midfielder has been active in the last two weeks and played for the Arsenal under-21s earlier in the week.
He has been closely watched by the club’s medical and coaching staff since returning from ankle and knee injuries and Wenger says he could be in the squad for the game at Emirates Stadium.
“There could be some players coming back, like [Barcary] Sagna. Wilshere I have to consider,” Wenger said on Arsenal Official website at www.arsenal.com.
“We’ll make a decision [on Friday], if I put him in the squad or not. That’s basically it.”
Wenger also said that winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could featured, after missing the Champions League defeat at home in midweek.
“He has a chance [of playing]. He is 60-40 for playing, positive,” the manager said.
“Of course it is a boost. It will be vital as [on Wednesday] some players finished very tired.”
Arsenal are still without Kieran Gibbs (thigh), Theo Walcott (chest), Abou Diaby (thigh), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) and Wojciech Szczesny (ankle).
QPR could be without captain and energetic midfielder Park Ji-sung, who did not train all this week after he sitting out with a knee injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw against Everton last week.
