Australia comeback to draw 2-2 with Oman

SYDNEY, Australia (Sporting Alert) — Australia came from two-goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Oman in the World Cup 2014 Asia Group B fourth round game at the ANZ Stadium on Tuesday.

Oman shocked the home side with a goal in the 7th minute when Abdulaziz Al Muqbali fired through the legs of Mark Schwarzer from a tight angle to score the opener for the visitors.

An own goal by Mile Jedinak in the 50th minute put Australia further on the back-foot and travellers looked well set to go on and take all three points.

However, the Australians pulled a goal back through former Everton midfielder and captain Tim Cahill, who headed home two-minutes later.

Oman goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi was then forced into making several saves as Australia began to dominate the game and did grab their equaliser through Brett Holman, who fired home from just outside the box four minutes from time.
