CARSON (Sporting Alert) — Tottenham manager André Villas Boas has named a strong team to face the LA Galaxy in their preseason football friendly match here at The Home Depot Center tonight.
Game at The Home Depot Center (10:30 pm ET/ 7:30 pm PT, KDOC, KWHY, 1330 AM, espn3.com and),
The starting team includes attacking players Jermain Defoe, Rafael van der Vaart and even Gareth Bale, who many are still shock about after he pulled out of the GB Olympic Games side because of an injury.
The line up also sees Kyle Walker, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Younes Kaboul all getting starting place for the tour of the United States opener, but as expected there is no Luka Modric, despite him returning to training.
The game will also see Galaxy forward Robbie Keane facing his former club and he’s looking forward to the challenge.
Keane, though, after playing three games in an eight-day span, isn’t expected to play much.
“It’s unfortunate that we’ve had three games in a week, so it’s a game, to be honest with you, the players don’t really need,” the Irish striker said.
“It’s more probably for Tottenham, for preseason preparation for them, for the start of the season.”
starting line-up – Cudicini; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Bassong; Livermore, Sigurdsson; Townsend, van der Vaart, Bale; Defoe.
