BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Barcelona have opened the door for English Premier League side Arsenal to come and get their target man David Villa in the summer.
Villa has been struggling to cement a consistent place in the starting line for Barcelona since returning from injury and the Spanish striker, according to reports is looking to leave the La Liga side at the end of the season.
Barcelona, at first, ruled out the sale of the former Valencia forward, but it appears the club is now willing to listen to offers.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Villa and Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has open the door to a summer exit for Villa.
“The coaching staff trust him to continue here next season, but if he is not comfortable we’ll find a solution,” Bartomeu was quoted as saying in the media.
Villa was also linked with a move to EPL side Tottenham in the January transfer window, and he could welcome a move there as well, should they qualify for the Champions League next season.
Barcelona seem crowded with attacking players at the moment, with Alexis Sanchez, Lionel Messi, Cesc Febragas and Pedro making life difficult for Villa to get a consistent starting run.
