BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Barcelona left it late, but managed to score two late goals to pull off a 2-0 win over the travelling Granada CF at Camp Nou in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday.
In other results, Zaragoza defeat Osasuna 3-1, Celta edged Getafe 2-1, and Betis beat Espanyol 1-0.
With defending champions Real Madrid not in action until Sunday, Barcelona started out the day hoping to put further gap between themselves and the pack.
However, the hosts found the going tough, as they failed to use their superior ball possession and shots on goal to good use until the last moment.
Second half substitute Xavi found the net in the 87th minute to give Barcelona the lead before a Borja Gomez stoppage own goal sealed the win.
Barcelona are now five-points ahead of second place Malaga, while Real Madrid, which plays on Sunday away to Rayo Vallecano, sits at 14th with just four points.
