Barclays Premier League Points Standings on March 17

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United opened up a 15 point advantage in the Barclays Premier League points standings, after the fixtures on Saturday and Sunday.

The Red Devils entered the weekend with a 12 point lead, but when defending champions and second place Manchester City were beaten at Everton, Sir Alex Ferguson’s side pulled further ahead with a 1-0 win over Reading at Old Trafford.

Manchester United lead the EPL standings with 74 points, while Manchester City are second with 59. The leaders have also scored the most goals this season, at 69, while conceding the third less, at 31.

Chelsea moved into third place with 55pts after beating West Ham United 2-0 and Tottenham suffered a defeat at home to Fulham. Spurs are on 54pts, but have also played one game more.

Arsenal complete the top five with 50pts from 29 games, with Everton (48), Liverpool (45), West Bromwich Albion (44), Swansea City (40) and Fulham (36) making up the top ten teams.

QPR continue to hold up the table in 20th with just 23pts after losing to Aston Villa, while Reading (23) and Wigan (27) are the others in the relegation zone.
