LONDON (Sporting Alert) — The race for Barclays Premier League title continues this weekend with a number of crown chasers down for action. Heading into the weekend’s games, the following is how the table standings will look.
Defending champions Manchester United leads the points table with 70-points, one more than arch rivals Manchester City, who cut the gap from four points with a victory over Chelsea in mid-week.
Arsenal take over third place and Arsene Wenger’s team in now on 55 points, one more than Tottenham, which dropped three of its last four games and fellow out of the top three places.
Chelsea, which take on Spurs in its next fixture, sits fifth on 49 points and manager Roberto Di Matteo says the Blues could miss out on a Champions League place if they are beaten by Harry Redknapp’s team this weekend.
At the bottom, Bolton 23, Wigan 22 and Wolverhampton 22 – are battling for survival.
