LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United head into this weekend’s round of games five points clear at the top of the English Barclays Premier League table standings.
Sir Alex Ferguson men are at the top with 82 points, and lead city rivals Manchester City, who are on 77 points.
Both side will be in action on Sunday with United facing Everton at Old Trafford, while Man City travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the later kick-off.
Arsenal continue to sit third on 64 points with Tottenham and Newcastle United both on 59. Chelsea are sitting sixth with 57 points, with the top-ten completed by Everton 47, Liverpool 46, Sunderland 43 and Fulham 43.
Life at the bottom is just as exciting as that in the top half with no less than six teams battling hard to save their Premier League seasons.
The likes of Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton are all in the red zone, but teams such as QPR and Wigan are far from being safe.
