This weekend is all about the tussle for College Football Playoff places, with No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Michigan and No. 8 Penn State all hunting valuable victories.
At the Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, MI, the second-ranked Buckeyes (9-1) will proceed with caution when they travel to face Michigan State.
The Spartans (3-7, 1-6 Big Ten) are having their worst season in more than a decade, and head into this regular season home finale hoping to hand their conference rivals another setback.
Ohio State has a 93-percent chance of winning against Michigan State on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index, but the Spartans have handed the Buckeyes (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten) two of their last three Big Ten losses, including last year when they ended they College Football Playoff hopes.
Michigan State Looks To Bounce Back
After last week’s 14-13 upset defeat against Iowa, third-ranked Michigan will look to bounce back with a win against Indiana.
The Wolverines (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten) stayed at No. 3 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, despite suffering their first loss of the season a week ago, but can’t afford another slip-up before the big showdown with Ohio State.
According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Michigan has a 98-percent chance to beat the Hoosiers (5-5, 3-4 Big Ten) in Ann Arbor this weekend and has a 41 percent chance to win the last two regular season games.
Indiana suffered a 45-31 defeat to Penn State last week, but the Nittany Lions needed a big fourth quarter to see off the travellers.
At the High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, No. 8 Penn State (8-2, 6-1 Big Ten) will visit a struggling and out of sort Rutgers (2-8, 0-7 Big Ten).
The Scarlet Knights have won just twice this term and are 0-7 in conference play.
ESPN’s Football Power Index believes the Nittany Lions have a 94-percent chance to win at Rutgers.
In other Big 10 conference games in Week 12, seventh-ranked Wisconsin takes a four-game winning streak into the clash with Purdue, while No. 18 Nebraska takes on Maryland.
