MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Edin Dzeko has been handed a starting place up front for Manchester City in tonight’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at Etihad Stadium.
The Premier League champions opened the fixture with a 3-2 defeat at Real Madrid and Roberto Mancini will be looking for a positive showing from his team on Matchday Two.
Dzeko has been in good form in recent times, and after scoring the winner over the weekend at Fulham, manager Mancini has decided to start him in attack.
Starting alongside him is the fit again Sergio Aguero.
The team also includes Javi Garcia, who starts in midfield, while Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri and David Silva all start as well.
Jack Rodwell, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli are all on the bench.
Dortmund will be led by striker Robert Lewandowski, who according to reports, has attracted scouts from Manchester United for tonight’s encounter.
The starting also includes quality players such as Mario Gotze and Marco Reus who can make Manchester City pay if they make mistakes, while defenders Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels are expected to help keep things tight at the back.
