Reports from several New York outlets are claiming that head coach Doc Rivers is now truly frustrated with the team’s recent efforts and results and is now ready to freshen things up as he looks to start more consistent winning form.
It will have to start tonight against the Knicks (25-14, 11-8 away) at TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts.
The contest will see Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett coming face-to-face again for the first time since their heated personal altercation, which started on the court and spilled over after the game.
The personal clash led to both players getting technical fouls in the final minutes of the game, which the Celtics (20-21, 13-8 home) won 102-96 on Jan. 7 at Madison Square Garden.
Anthony confronted Garnett after the game, but has confirmed that the matter is now behind him.
He recalled: “On my end there’s nothing left over. It’s just another game on the schedule and we just happen to be playing Boston.
“As far as anything being left over, this is a new game.
“We can’t get the game back that we lost to them on our home floor, so we want to go and return the favor and beat them on their home floor.”
Avery Bradley and Rajon Rondo start as the guards for Boston, with Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass and Kevin Garnett also starting.
For the New York Knicks, Iman Shumpert and Jason Kidd both start tonight, with Carmelo Anthony and Chris Copeland at the forward and Tyson Chandler starting at center.
