LONDON (Sporting Alert) — After being made to wait for a commitment, Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian star Oscar from Internacional.
It is being reported that his fee is around £25 million.
A deal was inevitable after the player successfully completed a medical, but he said he was going to take his time to make a final decision.
Now Chelsea is confirming that the 20-year-old playmaker has become another addition to the Champions League winners.
A statement on the Chelsea website read: “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Oscar.”
Oscar, whose full name is Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior, is currently with the Brazilian team at the London 2012 Olympics where they are one of the favourites to win the gold medal.
The youngster, who turns 21 in September is looking forward to playing in Roberto Di Matteo’s side and he said earlier: “I have full confidence in my work.
“If I go to Chelsea, it will be a dream – a big club in Europe. I’m sure I’ll have a great Olympics and if it is to be Chelsea, I will do a great job there.”
