Belarus 2-0 Canada: friendly football report

DOHA (Sporting Alert) — Belarus scored a goal on either side of 90-minutes to beat CONCACAF side Canada 2-0 in a friendly football international on Monday.

Vitali Rodionov and Vladimir Khvashchinskiy scored the goals for the winners at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.

Rodionov opened the scoring in the 29th minute of play and Belarus took a 1-0 lead at the half-time break.

Substitute Khvashchinski then sealed the game in the 88th minute.

Canada were losing their second successive friendly international, following the 2-1 defeat to Japan last week.

The team has now dropped four of its last five games, including an 8-1 hammering against Honduras in a CONCACAF World CUp 2014 qualifier last October.

Belarus were rebounding from last week’s 2-1 defeat to Jordan.
