LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Fernando Torres has received the backing from his teammates and coaching staff, but former England manager Fabio Capello believes the Chelsea struggler is not a top striker anymore.
Torres, before his move from Liverpool to Chelsea, was one of the Premier League’s most lethal forwards, who took his opponents apart.
However, Capello said the Spanish international has now become too predictable and defenders are now finding him too easy to handle.
Fernando Torres is “slowly losing it,” the Russia national head coach Italia 2.
“I don’t know what is happening because he was very good when Rafael Benitez was the Liverpool manager.
“Before, he was unpredictable with Liverpool but now defences manage to beat him for speed and this is worrying.”
Torres was left out of Chelsea’s starting line-up for the Champions League defeat to Juventus in Turin on Tuesday night.
The striker did come on as a substitute, but once again failed to make any impression in the 3-0 loss.
