LONDON, Sporting Alert – Arsenal and Tottenham will meet in the pick of the Capital One Cup third round draw, while there will be three other all Premier League clashes.
Sunderland will host Manchester City, Leicester will take on West Ham United at home and Norwich City entertain West Bromwich.
Champions Chelsea will travel to face Walsall and Manchester United entertain Ipswich Town at Old Trafford in their third round fixture.
While Man United are entering the competition in this round, Ipswich hammered Doncaster 4-1 in the second round.
The highlighted battle of the round though is expected to come from White Hart Lane where Tottenham and Arsenal face-off in the London cup derby.
Both teams will be reluctant to exit the competition at this stage and could field strong lineups for this contest.
Liverpool will take on Carlisle United, who dumped Championships side Queens Park Rangers from the cup on Tuesday night.
English Premier League newcomers Bournemouth, who hammered Hartlepool 4-0 on Tuesday on the road, will next face Preston North End in the third round.
Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Leicester City and Charlton Athletic all scored 4-1 victories in their respective second-round action.
In the third round, Crystal Palace will host Charlton Athletic and Newcastle are at home against Sheffield Wednesday.
Elsewhere in the Capital One Cup third round draw, Stoke City, who needed penalties to see off Luton in the second round, will travel to face Fulham, it’s Hull City v Swansea City, Aston Villa v Birmingham City and MK Dons against Southampton.
These third round ties will be played on the week commencing September 21.
