The pair were big contributors in Manchester City’s comfortable win over Newcastle United in the season opener and manager Manuel Pellegrini has decided to keep faith in them with Alvaro Negredo amongst the substitutes.

Pellegrini did make one change to his side, with Javi Garcia coming into the starting team for the injured captain Vincent Kompany in the centre half position.

This means that Jesus Navas, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Fernandinho all start again.

“We know Cardiff are a very difficult team,” Pellegrini said. “We know they are at home and are in the first season.

“We will need to play an excellent game without errors to get another three points.”

Meanwhile, Andrew Taylor comes back in defence for Cardiff City as a replacement for Declan John, while Danish striker Andreas Cornelius is on the bench after recovering from injury.

Striker Craig Bellamy captains the Bluebirds against his former side.

“I am pretty sure they are very respectful of us, I don’t doubt that,” Cardiff boss Malky Mackay said.

“He (Pellegrini) is a top manager and someone who is an incredible professional and has a great career, so they will do their job and homework properly on us.”
