Casillas set start for Real Madrid v Celta

MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Iker Casillas is set to return to the starting line-up for Real Madrid match in the Spanish Copa del Rey with Celta Vigo tonight at Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho named a 20-man squad for the clash and he’s expected to make changes for the game on Wednesday.

Casillas started for the second successive Spanish La Liga game on the bench over the weekend, but was called on after just eight-minutes to go in goal following the sending off of Antonio Adan for a tackle on Carlos Vela inside the penalty area.

And with Adan out of the next league game, Mourinho is expected to start with Casillas, who many are still puzzled about his back-to-back omission in the first place.

The defending La Liga champions could recall Angel Di Maria, Luka Modric and Gonzalo Higuain to the starting team, while Kaka is expected to get an extended period on the pitch.

Sergio Ramos, who was not in the squad for the 4-3 win over Real Sociedad is back in the picture and is could make a return to the starting line-up.

Real Madrid are third in the La Liga standings behind FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. FCB are currently running away with the league, and Madrid is hoping to turn their attention to winning other trophies.
