BOURNEMOUTH – Marcus Rashford jumped off the bench to net the winner for Manchester United in a 2-1 victory at Bournemouth in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Rashford, who was dropped to the bench by manager Jose Mourinho in favor of Alexis Sanchez, came up big when asked to, as he scrambled home from close range in the second minute of time added on in the second half.

Earlier, the home side Bournemouth took the lead through Callum Wilson in the 11th minute.

Poor defending saw Manchester United coming under a lot of pressure and Wilson capitalized on the run of play to give Eddie Howe’s men the advantage.

However, Manchester United, after hitting the post from an Ashley Young free-kick, leveled things up in the 35th minute when Anthony Martial steered home from a cross from Sanchez.

United were without leading striker Romelu Lukaku, who picked up an injury during training on Friday.

Despite the victory, though, Manchester United remain 7th in the English Premier League points standings and out of the Top 4.

Bournemouth are sixth.

Brazil Leads USA 2-0; Firmino and Neymar Score

By:MICAH DISNEY | Staff Writer Published on: September 7, 2018 11:58 pm Leave a Comment

NEW JERSEY — World superstars Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Alisson are among the starters for Brazil for tonight’s international football friendly clash against the United States at MetLife Stadium.

Watch Live Streaming Coverage on FoxSportsGO, starting at 8:00 pm ET. Fox Sports 1 USA will provide the live television broadcast.

Despite the fuss about his below-par performance at the FIFA World Cup tournament this past summer, Neymar has been named Brazil’s permanent captain by coach Tite and the Paris Saint-Germain is looking forward to leading the team.

“My responsibility is even bigger now due to the captaincy but if you don’t play [good] football there’s no need of it,” the forward said.

Neymar will start in the attack alongside Roberto Firmino and Douglas Costa and the trio will be a handful for the USA backline.

Philippe Coutinho will suit-up alongside Casemiro and Fred in the midfield, while Liverpool’s midfielder Fabinho stars at right back.

Alisson, as expected, starts in goal with Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Filipe Luis are in defense.

Meanwhile, the USA head into this game with a youthful squad that includes Julian Green, Antonee Robinson and Weston McKennie.

Wil Trapp will lead the the home side.

In the meantime, with Clint Dempsey now retired from international football, Bobby Wood is currently the focal man in front of goal.

Tim Weah, Gyasi Zardes and Alex Bono are among the substitutes for the United States.

How To Watch Live Stream

Interestingly, Watch TNT will be streaming live coverage of the game, while TV broadcast will be on TNT USA. BT Sport 2, BT Sport Live and BT Sport 4K UHD are the channels providing the action for those in the UK. You can also sign up with Sling TV and Fubo TV for live streaming coverage.

Courtois Set For Real Madrid Debut

Thibaut Courtois is in line to make his debut for Real Madrid after joining the European champions from Chelsea on deadline day, while manager Julen Lopetegui is set to unleash Gareth Bale in a new role, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus this summer. “There is not more pressure because it is against Atletico Madrid, it is a final and a trophy which means that we will give everything, we are obliged to win everything,” Lopetegui told UEFA. “The club gives us what we need so that we can do our work in the best manner and so we are privileged because of this. “We will try to be a good team, make the most of what we have collectively and individually for the collective good. “We will have a clear style, defined, which makes the most of the individuals that we have.” Midfield playmaker Luka Modric, who has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A side Inter Milan, is also in the Real Madrid squad and is expected to play.

Atletico Very Strong This Season

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is also confident about his side’s chance of securing an early trophy this season but warned that his summer acquisitions doesn’t mean immediate success.

Atletico lifted the Europa League last season with a solid squad but Simeone has gone out to strengthen his group over the summer. The likes of Thomas Lemar, Nikola Kalinic, Rodri, Santiago Arias and Gelson Martins are among the players coming, while veteran defender Diego Godin opted to stay put rather than joining Manchester United, following reports he turned down the Red Devils’ approach on deadline day. Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa, Jan Oblak, Koke, Juanfran and Filipe Luís are just a few of the other top players at Simeone’s disposal.

Derby v Oldham: Lampard Hopes To Bounce Back In Carabao Cup

By:JAMES ANDERSON Published on: August 13, 2018 7:21 pm Leave a Comment

Lampard Calls On Rams To Shake Off Heavy Defeat In League Action.

OLDHAM – Frank Lampard and Derby County will aim to bounce back from the crushing defeat in league action over the weekend when his side faces Oldham in the Carabao Cup first round on Tuesday at Boundary Park.

Lampard was brought back down to earth on Saturday when his Derby side was taken apart in a 4-1 defeat to Leeds United.

With his main focus being on securing a promotion from the Championship, the former England and Chelsea midfielder could look to give some of his younger players an opportunity to play some first-team football.

Embed from Getty Images

At the same time, he will also play some of his experienced players who are still looking to work on game fitness.

One of the players in line to start for Derby is Jack Marriott, who was the top goalscorer at Peterborough last season in League One.

Surprisingly, Marriott is yet to start a league game since he joined the Rams and Lampard will look to give the striker a chance to impress.

Also in line for a starting place for Derby are speedy winger Florian Jozefzoon and midfielder Bradley Johnson.

Meanwhile, for Oldham, they will be hoping to shake off a slow start in League Two, while manager Frankie Bunn, who saw his team collecting just one point from the opening two games, has urged the fans to get behind the players.

The slow-starting Latics were held 1-1 by Forest Green Rovers at the weekend and were beaten 2-1 in the League Two opener by MK Dons.

Bunn, meanwhile, doesn’t have a deep squad at Oldham so he will be forced to use several of his youngsters.

Oldham Athletic have won three of the last five head-to-head meeting with Derby, but were edged 1-0 by the Rams when they last met in 2013 at Boundary Park.

Raheem Sterling silenced the majority of the almost 60,000 fans at the Emirates when he opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 14th minute.

  • Ruthless Liverpool Hammer West Ham 4-0: Video Highlights

The England international fired City into what was a deserving lead when he shifted past Hector Bellerin and Matteo Guendouzi and beating Petr Cech with his 50th Premier League goal.

Bernardo Silva wrapped up the win with an excellent strike on 64 minutes to earn the three points for the Citizens and handed Unai Emery a defeat on debut as the new Arsenal manager.

“Our average level is high, we cannot deny that. I’ve said many times I have the feeling we can improve,” said Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

“Still, we are not good enough to know exactly what we have to do, but in general, I cannot be more satisfied from what I saw against Chelsea and Arsenal.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Emery said: “Manchester City’s performance showed us that we need to continue the process of improving. They deserved the result.

“We are a new team [that needs] to improve. For me today, I was frustrated that we lost but it is also one more experience and continued progression,” he added.
